OpenAI Ads Lead Measurement

Stack

GTM · OpenAI Pixel · GA4

The Challenge

How do you measure a real lead when the form stays on the same page?

The website uses Bricks AJAX forms, so a successful submission does not require a traditional thank-you-page redirect. The tracking system therefore needed to recognize the actual form-success event and pass that signal reliably to OpenAI Ads.

The challenge was to create a measurement framework that can be reused across multiple tools while still identifying which tool users interacted with and how far they progressed.

MEASUREMENT FRAMEWORK

Capture the actual conversion event — not just the button click.

A successful Bricks form submission becomes the measurement signal used to trigger the OpenAI Ads conversion.

Bricks Form Success

Detects the actual successful AJAX submission.

Data Layer Event

Pushes bricks_form_success with the form ID.

GTM Trigger

Filters the event to the intended lead form.

Lead Created

Sends the OpenAI Ads conversion event.

Measurement Architecture

From form interaction to an actionable ad conversion.

A lightweight event-driven architecture keeps the website form, GTM and OpenAI Ads measurement connected.

IMPLEMENTATION

One controlled tracking layer for the lead form.

Bricks Success Listener

Listens for bricks/form/success and pushes a clean custom event into the data layer.

Form-specific GTM Trigger

The trigger uses the form ID de457d so newsletter or other forms are not counted as paid-ad loads.

OpenAI Lead Created Tag

Fires the configured OpenAI conversion code only after the qualified Bricks form-success event occurs.

Live GTM Version 5

The implementation was tested in GTM Preview and then published as the live container version.

VALIDATION

The implementation was tested end-to-end.

Bricks submission captured

The WordPress Bricks Form Submissions screen records the test submissions.

Custom event detected

GTM Preview received bricks_form_success.

Correct form identified

The trigger filters the intended lead form using ID de457d.

OpenAI tag succeeded

The OpenAI Lead Created tag fired successfully in GTM Preview.

CAMPAIGN FOUNDATION

Ready for measurable paid acquisition.

The Dallas paid advertising campaign was configured around the Lead Created conversion, with Dallas, USA ZIP-code targeting and three Google Ads conversion-tracking ad variations.

The remaining account-level requirement is billing/account setup before ads can serve.

From form submission to measurable OpenAI Ads conversion.

The implementation establishes a clear conversion path that can be validated before advertising spend begins.

What this framework provides

  • Reliable form-success detection
  • Form-specific conversion filtering
  • GTM-controlled OpenAI Ads measurement
  • A documented foundation for campaign optimization
